In the Office...

Alan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1967 and in the same year became a member of the Institute of Taxation (now the Chartered Institute of Taxation).

He has provided tax advice to Northern Ireland family companies and their shareholders for many years. In addition, he has acted for multinational companies setting up in Northern Ireland, principally German, US and Swedish companies.

He is a past Chairman of the Ulster Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and has served on several Institute Committees, mainly in the areas of tax and education.

Prior to becoming a partner in Harbinson Mulholland in 1998, he had spent 17 years as a partner in two of the ‘Big Four’ accountancy practices.

What’s the best book you’ve ever read?
Westwood Ho! by Charles Kingsley

If you could choose to be another person for a day who would it be and why?
Rudi Carraciola (1901- 1959) considered as arguably the greatest Grand Prix driver of all time. In 1929, in a rain storm he won the 30-lap Tourist Trophy race on the Newtownards/Comber circuit against the best drivers of the day. This was after receiving a 5 lap handicap
