Darren qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 and has considerable experience working in industry as well as with a variety of SME's.
His general business skills comprise audit, accounts and tax although he is valued in Harbinson Mulholland for his specialist skills such as; expertise in due diligence assignments to assist purchasers, working with software and technology companies in addressing the needs of their investors such as venture capitalists, business planning and management accounting.

• Communicating results in a non technical understandable manner!
• Managing a portfolio of corporate clients with turnovers up to £20 million
• All forms of business assurance including:
• Statutory audit, Grant audit and Specialist sector audits such as pension schemes & solicitor accounts
Business advice and accounts
• Financial projections, dealing with banks, INI and venture capital providers
• Commercial advice arising from financial information
• Advice on accounting systems
Due diligence
• Unearthing the important financial issues in an acquisition
• Financial aspects of due diligence assignments in deal values up to £30 million
• Commenting on sale and purchase agreements

What’s been your greatest achievement to date?
Teaching my sons how to ride their bikes without stabilisers. There’s satisfaction for you.
Most treasured possession
Marillion's 13th studio album, which lists my name (along with 14,000 others) on the CD insert as having paid for the album in advance of it being made. That's trust.
What irritates you?
Arrogance, particularly when it’s hand in hand with incompetence.
Where has been the most interesting place you have visited?
My grandfather’s house in the mid 1980s.
If you could re-live any moment in your life, what would it be?
Being present at the birth of my first child. How extraordinary!
What’s the best book you’ve ever read?
Mitch Albom - For One more Day
What’s your most commonly used word
Excellent.
What’s your idea of Heaven?
A Starbuck’s cappuccino and a good book.
What’s your philosophy in life?
Work hard, life is a marathon not a sprint.
