When things get tough they have an ability roll up their sleeves and get on with things in a way that is different from other firms. But it always pays to be prepared. So our programme examines both internal and external resilience for family businesses - making sure they continue to survive and thrive in uncertain times.

Vicki O’ Toole, Managing Director, JJ O’Toole Ltd
JJ O’Toole, based in Limerick is a 103 year old business now in its 4th generation. Vicki will share her story of resilience and how she helped turn the business around in times of crisis to now being Ireland’s leading packaging supplier.
4.15pm Researching Resilience & Successful Succession
Facilitated by Michael McQuillan, this session will give insights into the research on family businesses conducted by Ulster University and Fingal County Council
Ian Smyth will share details of his work into “successful succession” looking at issues including communication, trust and the various “hats” that family business members wear.
Ed Hearne will give insights into lessons of resilience and success from 12 multigenerational family businesses based in Fingal, Co. Dublin.
